Lady Lakers fall to St. Mary's

On January 13, the Danbury girls fell behind early against Sandusky St. Mary’s as the visiting Panthers outscored the Lakers by 8 and 5 in the first two quarters. The Lady Lakers got within one point late in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t quite get the victory in a 62-51 loss.

Cecil scores 1,000th point in win over Edison

Junior forward Andrea Cecil led Oak Harbor to a 79-58 comeback victory over Edison while scoring her 1,000th career point and setting a school record for points in a single game with 36.

Cecil helped key a second-quarter run that saw the Rockets, who improved to 7-7 overall and 4-4 in the Sandusky Bay Conference with the victory, rally to cut the 25-13 deficit after one quarter to 42-37 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Oak Harbor took over, outscoring the Chargers, 25-11, to take a 62-53, into the fourth.

Port Clinton seventh grade basketball team wins over St. Joe

On Saturday, January 17, the seventh grade Port Clinton girls’ basketball team beat Fremont St. Joe’s 24-17. That makes the PC girls 4-5 for the season.

Marie Gluth scored 8 points for her team. Grace Heilmann followed with 6 and Hannah Paeth scored 4. Aliyah Phillabaum and Samantha Sneider added 2 each and Matti Koskela and Carli Laurel each scored 1.
