The Reader, the Bell Ringer and the Blanket

By Donna Lueke
The Beacon office received a call this week from a kind-hearted Reader with a unique request. The Port Clinton woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, was talking with a Salvation Army Bell-ringer outside Community Market one day last week.

Community Merry Christmas in Marblehead

The community is invited get in the Christmas Spirit at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Dec. 16 at 6:30 p.m.  Through the eyes and hearts of children there will be  focus on the real meaning of Christmas. The play, ‘Merry Christmas! – an experience in Joy, Peace, Light & Love in Jesus!’ will be followed by a Birthday Party for Jesus. There will be ice cream and cake and an opportunity to give a present to Jesus by serving others.

Change lives by contributing to United Way

Want to change lives here at home? Consider United Way in Ottawa County. Just $50.00 could make sure a preschool child has a volunteer reader each week; $100 can support training for a special advocate for an abused child; $150 could help a family on the road to financial stability.  Any gift when United with others makes us all better.
