PIB novelist signing books at Lakeside

Award-winning Put-in-Bay novelist Bob Adamov will be signing copies of his sixth novel, “Tan Lines,” from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. July 4 at Joseph Wise Fine Clocks in Lakeside.

In “Tan Lines,” something is killing the perch in Lake Erie. Is it bioterrorism or a new fish kill virus? When the United States president and the Canadian Prime Minister visit the Lake Erie islands for a conference and walleye fishing, the President disappears. It’s two days before the president stands for re-nomination at the party’s national convention in Cleveland.
When the head of the Presidential Protection Detail accuses Washington Post investigative reporter Emerson Moore of attempting to assassinate the U.S. president, Moore escapes and a massive hunt is initiated. The hunt is soon expanded to include a missing Secret Service Agent and a mysterious, unidentified third party.
Amidst a sniper’s assassination attempt, a covert terrorist on Grosse Ile, a series of unsolved murders, a rogue Put-in-Bay police officer, an illicit love affair, arson, Pirates’ Week festivities, a terrorist bomb threat in Put-in-Bay and boat chases; Moore tries to stay one step ahead of his would-be captors as he works to clear his name and find the President. Ford Tri-Motor coming to town

The Tin Goose EAA Chapter 1247 will be hosting the Ford Tri-Motor rides at the Erie-Ottawa Regional Airport in Port Clinton from June 28-July 4. The aircraft is a 1929 Ford from the Kalamazoo AirZoo Museum where this plane was just released from their restoration hangar last year after a lengthy and detailed renovation. It is back in the air looking better than ever and ready for service.

Firecracker Cutie Contest returns to 4th of July festivities

This year’s contest is open to all boys and girls that are Ottawa County residents age 0-12 and will be held at Adams Street Park at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 4. In case of rain, it will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, at the corner of Second and Adams streets in Port Clinton.
Participants are asked to don their red, white and blue for the occasion.
New this year is an optional “most photogenic” contest, which will be judged based on photographs sent in with the applications. These will be judged separately prior to July 4th, and awards will be given at the afternoon ceremonies. Registration deadline for the “most photogenic” contest is June 30, and Firecracker Cutie contest applications are due the day of the event. Firecracker Cutie Applications will be accepted on the 4th starting at 9:15 a.m.
