Tickets for the Sept. 28 Port Clinton-Margaretta football game, featuring THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY MARCHING BAND, went on sale yesterday, Wednesday, Sept. 19, at the PCHS main office. Only 6,500 tickets will be sold. The tickets are only $6 each. Get yours while they last.

Don’t go hungry tonight. St. Thomas Episcopal Church on East Second Street in Port Clinton will be holding a Community Meal tonight from 5-6 p.m. They will be serving spaghetti and meatballs along with a salad and garlic bread…all for free.

Our Find Wylie winner is Richard Visocan who was among 215 contestants who found Wylie hiding in the ad for Furniture/Mattress Liquidation on page 4A in last week’s Beacon. The Walcott Keeper’s House on Bayshore Road in Marblehead will be the site for the reenactment of the War of 1812 skirmish this Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 22 and 23. It all begins at 7:30 a.m. There will be a War of 1812 encampment, the skirmish reenactment, along with speakers, food and music. The house is located at 9999 E. Bayshore Rd, just 2-1/2 miles west of the Marblehead Lighthouse. For more information, visit their website at www.thekeepershouse.org.

The Oak Harbor Downtown Committee, in conjunction with the Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce, will be holding their next downtown Farmers’ Market this Saturday, Sept. 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Along with farm fresh produce, the farm market vendors also provide quality poultry products, fresh baked goods, herbs, fresh cut flowers, all types of plants, fruit, cider, handmade crafts, garden décor, antiques and a whole lot more. There will be a Grand Re-Opening for the Country Gentleman Barber/Beauty Salon to be held this Tuesday, Sept. 25 from 5-7 p.m. They are located at 228 East Second Street in Port Clinton just west of Adams Street. There will be refreshments, including Lou Wargo’s famous Walleye Bites. The ribbon cutting ceremony takes place at 6 p.m. Country Gentleman has been in business in downtown Port Clinton for 30 years. Congratulations to former Mayor Debbie Hymore-Tester and her staff.

The Nugent’s Canal Auxiliary will hold their annual card party this Wednesday, Sept. 26, starting at 12 noon at the Yacht Club. $7 will get you in and also get you their spectacular salad buffet. For more information or reservations, call Nell at 419-732-3762 or Bev at 419-732-8853.

The Port Clinton Harvest Festival will take place next weekend, Sept. 28-30. There will be bands, lots of food vendors, and just an all-around great time. On Saturday, Sept. 29, the Port Clinton High School All-Class Reunion will be held again at Mango Mama’s downtown on North Madison Street. I hear that there will be a special PCHS alumni rock ‘n’ roll band playing that evening.

There will be an Indoor Garage Sale and Vendor Gala next Saturday, Sept. 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Paul United Church of Christ on Toussaint Street in Oak Harbor. They will have over 15 garage sale tables along with vendor tables selling all kinds of things from jewelry to arts and crafts. Breakfast and lunch will be available for purchase as well. Joyful Connections, Ottawa County’s supervised visitation and exchange agency, is holding their first ever Family Frenzy, a program similar to the Family Feud TV Show, on Saturday, Sept. 29, at 6 p.m. at the banquet hall at the Ottawa County Fairgrounds. Tickets are $25 per person, which includes a dinner of chicken and ribs along with a fun evening of entertainment as six local teams compete for the championship. Think Pink!!! Riverview Healthcare Campus will be the site for a very special Pink Fashion Show for Breast Cancer Awareness on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 2 p.m. The only criteria is for attendees to wear pink and give a $1 donation for the Susan G.
