Magruder Hospital receives Gold Seal of Approval

Magruder has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ for accreditation by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety in hospitals. The accreditation award recognizes Magruder’s dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission’s state-of-the-art standards. 

Magruder underwent a rigorous unannounced on-site survey in February. A team of Joint Commission expert surveyors evaluated Magruder for compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of patients, including infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management.

First Magruder Hospital VIP Club Trip of 2014

The deadline to sign up for Magruder Hospital’s first VIP Club Trip of 2014, a two-day trip to Amish country in Sugarcreek, Ohio, is Monday, June 9.  The trip will take place on Tuesday, July 29 and Wednesday, July 30.  Cost per person will be $294 each for double occupancy. 

The group will depart from the City/County Complex on West Perry Street at 7:30 a.m. on July 29.   The first part of the trip includes a tour of the Behalt Mural and lunch on your own at the Farmstead Restaurant.  Then there will be stops at the Heinis Cheese Chalet and Coblentz Chocolates.  Dinner, which is included, will be at Katie Schrock’s Amish home that evening and the group will stay at the Carlisle Inn.

Day two includes a tour of Rolling Ridge Ranch, Hershberger Bakery and lunch, which is included, at the Dutch Valley Restaurant.  The group will then enjoy live theater in the round at the Carlisle Inn, with The Confession a musical by Beverly Lewis. This musical is based on the Amish novels by award winning Beverly Lewis. The day ends with a trip to the Breitenbach Winery before heading home, arriving back in town around 8:15 p.m.

Magruder Auxiliary volunteers honored

Magruder Hospital Auxiliary conducted their Annual Appreciation Lunch on April 22, at which time volunteers were honored for their hours of service in various areas of the hospital during 2013. This year the volunteers were treated with a historical account of Port Clinton and the area from Connie Cedoz, Librarian at Ida Rupp Library. She was a wealth of information of past eras, since she has researched many interesting inquiries from patrons over the many years at the Library.
