Oak Harbor routs St. Joseph CC, 49-0

In desperate need of a victory, Oak Harbor came up big on Senior Night.

Running back Andrew Heberling had one of the best game of his career, running 19 times for 176 yards and four touchdowns in the Rockets' 49-0 victory of St. Joseph Central Catholic on Friday night.

The junior, who leads the team in rushing, scored on one long run (40), two intermediate runs (22, 23) and one short one (2) as Oak Harbor dominated throughout.

Ottawa Hills blanks Danbury, 35-0

Despite losing 35-0 to Ottawa Hills last Friday, Danbury had its chances.

The Lakers had their chances, but ultimately they failed to convert before a late touchdown in the second quarter put the Green Bears ahead 14-0 and broke Danbury's spirits.

Holding a 6-0 lead and facing a third-and-goal with eight seconds to play, Ottawa Hills quarterback Austin Stevens found Dan Intrater for an eight-yard touchdown, giving the Bears a 12-0 advantage before a two-point conversion made it 14-0 heading into the half.

PCHS Athletic Hall of Fame inductees: Scott Rickel and Class of 1976 football team

The members of the 1976 Port Clinton High School football team that went 9-1 with 7 shutouts and a Great Lakes League Championship were formally inducted into the Port Clinton High School Athletic Hall of Fame Saturday Night. With Leo Alvarado holding the GLL Championship Trophy, the team surrounds its head coach, Jim Hastings, who made the trip from Tennessee to Ohio this weekend for the special ceremonies. Hastings teams were 16-4 in his two seasons at the helm of the Redskins. Hastings spoke to the gathering on Saturday night and told a few stories about the team. He also admitted he may have made a mistake leaving for a College Coaching job at Morehead State in Kentucky. "No matter where I have gone in my coaching career, my heart is now and will always remain with Port Clinton and these great players." Two of the members of that team have passed on, including the starting center, Mike Ebert, who was represented by his wife Olga (pictured far left).
