Zoeller and Binder lead Port Clinton lady bowlers to championship

Port Clinton’s Lady Redskin Bowlers traveled to Tri County Bowl in Woodville Monday and rolled over the Gibsonburg Ladies, 2446-2196, to win the Northern Ohio Bowling Conference Championship. The Lady ‘Skins set a school record at 19-2 on the season. They were 13-2 in Conference action, breaking a tie with Eastwood by winning 2 of the 3 head to head matches. They also won the NOBC Tournament and OHSAA NW District Sectional Tournament. 

Alysia Zoeller led the Lady ‘Skins with a 191 game and a 340 two game series. Eryn Binder rolled 189-329, and Samantha Stroupe, 162-316. The other team members are Kassidy Mahler, Reilly Wittman, Jozlynn Seamon and Katelyn Chapman. 

The team will compete in the OHSAA NW District Tournament at Westgate Lanes in Lima Saturday at 10 a.m. The top 4 teams advance to the State Finals in Columbus.

Lady Redskins are sectional bowling champions

Port Clinton’s Lady Redskin Bowlers won their first OHSAA Sectional Bowling Championship at Star Lanes at the Harbor Saturday. Port Clinton trailed Huron after two games by seven pins, but went ahead in the third team game, and shot 1052 in six Baker games to earn the Championship. 

Alysia Zoeller led the Lady ‘Skins with 212-182 for a 543 series, second overall for individuals. Reilly Wittman rolled 157-181-166 for 504, Kassidy Mahler 156 for 454, Eryn Binder 151 for 448. Other team members are Samantha Stroupe, Jozlynn Seamon, Katelyn Chapman, and Shelby Radloff. 

“Our girls bowled good overall, but were sort of sloppy during the team games,” said Coach Bob Black. “After the third Baker game (129) we had a one-way discussion and they responded with 193-194-201 to finish. They are very good and talented, all 7of them, and they have to believe in themselves that they have the ability to play at a high level. And, there is lots of room for improvement, and there are no seniors!”

Redskin bowlers split with Eastwood

Port Clinton’s Redskin Bowlers traveled to Tri County Bowl in Woodville and split matches with Eastwood. 

The Redskin Boys ended Eastwood’s NOBC Conference title hopes by a 3080-2605 score, including a huge opening game of 1121. Darrel Trent rolled 244, Dave Wilburn 243, Andy Batterton 241,and Kordell Blankenship 221 to lead the first game scoring. Trent added a second game of 247 for a 4912 game series. Batterton added 209 for 450, Wilburn ended with 417 and Blankenship a 386.
