Rocket girls win twice, improve to 4-0

Behind 33 points from Emma Barney and Andrea Cecil, the Oak Harbor Rockets raced out to an early lead and defeated Edison 49-34 in Sandusky Bay Conference action last week.

The Rockets, who are now 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the league, got off to a fast start and held a 17-8 lead after one quarter before pushing their advantage to 31-17 at the half.

The Chargers were unable to make a run in the second half as they were outscored 18-17 in the final two quarters.

Oak Harbor’s Maddy Rathbun chipped in with 12 points and Edison got 11 points from Chelsea Imus.

Oak Harbor 50, Huron 32

This game was never in doubt as Oak Harbor took control early and defeated Huron 50-32 on Saturday.

After outscoring the Tigers 15-8 in the first quarter, the Rockets outscored Huron 8-0 in the second period to take a 23-8 lead at the half. At one point, Oak Harbor pushed the advantage to 30 before the Tigers came back to make the score respectable.

Andrea Cecil was a dominant force, scoring at will and creating turnovers on defense. She finished with 19 points to lead all scorers and has finished with double figures in every game this season. Athena Eli finished with 10 points, including two 3-pointers, and Emma Barney scored nine points.
