Danbury boys fall to Lakota in game at The ‘Q’

In a special event for Danbury High School, the Laker boys’ basketball team competed at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland last week against Lakota as part of the High School Hoops Showcase.

Danbury did lose the game, 47-33, but it was a special experience nonetheless.

The Raiders (6-13) took an 8-4 lead after one quarter before pushing the advantage to 22-11 at halftime. The Lakers responded in the third quarter, outscoring Lakota, 11-7, to make it a 29-22 game heading into the final period, but the Raiders put things away with an 18-11 run in the fourth to claim victory.

Lakota’s Darris McGown led all scorers with 14 and Colin Timmons and Nate Ray scored 13 and 12, respectively.

Chance Mackall led Danbury (1-16) with 12 points and Dylan Buckley finished with eight.

The Lakers have three games this week — @ Maumee Valley CD (Tues.); Toledo Christian (Fri.); @ Oak Harbor (Sat.). Danbury fell in their first matchup versus MVCD, 65-30, and lost to the Eagles, 84-31, on Jan. 18.
