Each year Catawba Moorings collaborates with The Salvation Army-Port Clinton Social Service Unit by holding a food drive and setting up a Red Kettle during Christmas in July weekend. This past weekend the Dockers with Donations did it again! They managed to fill a shopping cart with non-perishable food and raise a whopping $1,358 to assist those in Ottawa County!
Just got back from a long weekend at Put-in-Bay. It was a beautiful weekend for the Inter-Lake Yachting Association Sail Regatta, except for that little rain squall that came through the fleet with 50 MPH winds on Friday! Port Clinton resident and PCYC Fleet Captain of Sail Jim Miller was the Regatta Chairman and did a great job. A handful of PCYC boats participated. Congratulations to Ramon Eickert for winning the Deep Water Race on Thursday’s sail from Port Clinton to Put-in-Bay.
By the way, one of the highlights from last weekend was watching the World War II B-17 fly overhead. What a beautiful and stirring sight.
Congratulations to Jessica Vance of Port Clinton who is this week’s big winner in our weekly Find Wylie contest. Mary Ann wins our weekly prize of a pair of tickets to Cedar Point. He was selected from 315 entries having found Wylie hiding in the ad for Ferguson’s Gallery in last week’s Beacon. We hide a caricature of Wylie Walleye in an ad each week, and our readers, when one of them finds him, can either bring in a contest entry or go onto our website, thebeacon.net, and let us know where he is, thus entering, and possibly winning the contest.
